Getting older is a painful fact of life. If God brings us to a new day, there is purpose in it.
Poet David Lougher shares a Christian view on our aging bodies:
"When this frail frame is racked with pain, My living will not be in vain. When my cold heart is full of grief, The Word of God brings sweet relief. When doubts and fears disturb my rest, I pray to God in my distress. When recall fails and thoughts confuse, The Spirit then my mind renews. When friends and earthly comforts flee, I know that Christ will comfort me. When I confront that last dark night, I know that Christ will be my light. Then my suffering will be past, My soul shall rest in God at last."
Proverbs 16:31 - “The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.”
Leviticus 19:32 - “Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.”
Today’s medley of songs by Comedian Tim Hawkins puts a comedic twist on the 1980s songs aging rock bands might sing and how the lyrics could be reworded. Plus … don’t go away before you listen to Senior Living resident Mary Maxwell’s prayer. Mary shines a very funny light on the foibles of aging, to the delight of an audience filled with senior-care experts. Her prayer starts out like a normal prayer, but soon takes a very funny turn and she delivers it with the timing of a professional comedian. So … young or old, sit back and enjoy the laughs!
