Between Your Dash

When you leave this earth, how will you be remembered? Will your life have made a difference? More importantly, will your life have made a difference for JESUS? Has your life reflected His Word? Have you shared the gospel message with those you’ve encountered along the way? Friend, that is what this life is all about. It's not about your good deeds ... good deeds are nice but they don't get you to heaven. It’s not about us, it’s about JESUS.

Matthew 5:13-16 – “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” With that in mind, here's some great advice we heard recently: ‘Ultimately, others measure your life not by how bright your light is, but how well you manage your shadow.’

How are you spending the dash between your date of birth date of death?

It’s never too late to share the good news of our Saviour! Mark 16:15 - “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Luke 12:33-34 – “Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Old man Wrigley lived in that white house down the street where I grew up. Mama used to send me over with things; we struck a friendship up. I spent a few long summers out on his old porch swing. Said he was in the war when in the Navy, lost his wife, lost his baby. Broke down and asked him one time, “How d’ya keep from going crazy? He said, “I'll see my wife and son in just a little while.” I asked him what he meant. He looked at me and smiled, said, “I raise my hands, bow my head. I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red; they tell me that there's more to life than just what I can see. Oh, I believe!

Study God’s Word … it is truth! Oh, I believe! Do you believe? You must also receive!

So in the end, what’s in between your 'dash' should be a love story … about our Saviour and how He made this life worth living!
