The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 18:1-3 – “… Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
Jesus continues and says, “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 18:4)
Lord, give us a childlike heart; lead us to where You are.
When very young, children haven’t yet developed pride; they don’t yet desire authority, have no ill-will or hold grudges, and are teachable. They have the lowly minds of true Christians; they are humble. James 4:10 - “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
As Christ-followers, we need to renew the spirit of our minds daily so that we may become simple and humble, as little children. Psalms 25:5 - “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”
Jesus is the reason we sing! Bring Him your broken song and ask Him to lead you to where He is. With childlike simplicity, worship Him in spirit and truth. John 4:24 - “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
