Fruit of the Spirit

What is the “fruit of the spirit”? Galatians 5:22-23 gives nine characteristics that God says are the result of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour, the Holy Spirit fills us and He begins to produce good “fruit” in us; in other words, He begins to make us more like Jesus. As we pursue God and follow after Him with our whole heart, the Holy Spirit continues to produce more and more good fruit in us. Apart from Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can do nothing. We are dependent upon God to help us grow. The fruit He produces in us is beautiful and life-changing!

Galatians 5:22-25 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Be careful as you study this topic, as the New Age bible versions (NIV, NKJV, ESV, RSV, etc.) change God’s Words … even some of the names of the fruit! Things that are different are not the same! The King James Bible is not a version, as the world calls it. All others are versions but the King James Bible (KJB) is translated word-for-word, not thought-for-thought like the others. Stick with The Holy Bible … KJB not KJV … and study God’s Words, not man’s. It is one of the mysteries we will be held accountable for at Judgment Day! (more details on the Mystery of Godliness below) 2Timothy 4:3-4 – “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” John 1:14a - “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us ...” 1Timothy 3:16 - “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
