One of the most well-known Bible verses is John 3:16: John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Modern versions of the “bible” change God’s Words, and this verse is no exception. Some remove the word “begotten”; some change it to “one and only Son”; some change the word “everlasting” to “eternal”. While these changes may seem insignificant, they are very significant. For instance, the Greek “μονογενής” (monogenēs) is a compound word of “mono” (only) and “gene” (begotten). Literally translated, it is “only begotten.” Jesus is not God’s “one and only” son ... Adam is God’s son and God has many angelic sons ... but these other sons were “created” sons and Jesus is unique because He is God’s only "begotten" son. Jesus is eternal. There is no time when he did not exist spiritually. He is in the Father and One with the Father and is fully God. Today’s video song about this famous passage is performed by The Georgia Boy Choir (2016) at the Washington National Cathedral.
Note: God's Word is settled in heaven; changes in print made here on earth do not change God's settled Word, but those who add to or take away from His Words will answer dearly for it.
Isaiah 9:6 - "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
John 8:58 - "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am."
Matthew 1:23 - “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Song Lyrics: “God could have chosen to never Love again, fallen man could go his way and die in his sin; but God in his compassion said, “I’ll pay redemption’s price, so He took on the form of man and became the perfect sacrifice. If riches could have paid the debt then God could have sold all the walls of jasper, and the streets of purest gold. But He knew the price of one lost soul was more than wealth could buy; and if redemption were ever bought, only Love would satisfy.”
For God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son ... you’ve heard it but do you understand its significance? You were bought with a price! You are Loved by Your Creator, so much so that He suffered and died in your place. If you don’t want to spend eternity in hell, you must accept His gift to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. You are Loved by Almighty God!
