One of man's most basic and fundamental needs is the desire to be loved and nurtured. Feeling loved and cared for brings happiness and healthy relationships. But just as strong as our need to be loved is the need to love others. Expressing love, whether in big or small ways, benefits not only the receiver, but the giver.
The Bible shows us there are different types of love, as described in this related post. God’s love brings joy! It is the highest type of love, which is selfless, sacrificial and unconditional.
Knowing that giving and receiving love are equally important, how much love do we show the God Who loves us so much? God tells us He loves us every day when He gives us breath and a living soul, protects us, provides our every need, gives us eternal hope … the list is endless!
Make no mistake, God doesn’t need us. He’s God! But He created us in His image and He IS love. He tells us to be like Him, to walk like Him, Who is Love. We exist to bring Him glory.
“Great are You, Lord!”
When is the last time you got alone with God and told Him how much you love Him?
Genesis 1:27 - “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
1John 2:6 - “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”
Psalms 77:13 - “Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?”
From the lyrics: You give life, You are love, You bring Light to the darkness! You give hope, You restore every heart that is broken. Great are You, Lord! It's Your breath in our lungs, so we pour out our praise; we pour out our praise to You only. All the earth will shout Your praise; our hearts will cry, these bones will sing, “Great are You, Lord!”
Today’s song is a worship song. As you play it, pay attention to the words and sing them to our Maker with your heart, not just your lips. The words are repeated for this reason. Praise the Lord today and tell Him how much you Love Him … tell Him how great He is!
