Ever find yourself humming an old secular song you haven’t heard for years? Today’s song was released in the late 1990s and was near the top of the charts for weeks. It was sung and made popular by two Country music artists and although not a 'Christian song', the lyrics and topic can easily be changed to focus on Jesus. How do I live without Jesus? What kind of life would that be?
Jesus should be the focus of our lives! It’s not about me, it’s not about you … it’s about Jesus! Romans 8:5 - “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”
The entire New Testament of the Bible focuses on the life of Jesus of Nazareth, forming the basis of all Christian beliefs. The 27 books fall into 4 categories:
The 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John), explaining the 'Good News' about Jesus's life, death and resurrection from the dead.
The 'Acts of the Apostles', recounting the deeds of Jesus' followers after His resurrection.
21 Letters written by early followers of Jesus (many by the apostle Paul), explaining Jesus’ teachings to new believers.
The 'Revelation of John', about Jesus and the 'End Times'.
As you play today’s song, sing it with Jesus in mind. Sing it to Jesus! Hopefully it will change how you think about the song each time you hear it.
How do I get through one night without you?
If I had to live without you, what kind of life would that be?
How do I live without you? I want to know!
Without you, there'd be no sun in my sky;
There would be no love in my life,
There'd be no life (world) left for me!
And I don't know what I would do …
I'd be lost if I lost you!
Colossians 3:15 - “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
Jesus loves you so much He died so that you might live, so it's your choice if you're living without Him ... and He promises to never leave you. As the well-known hymn wisely encourages … Turn your eyes upon Jesus and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace!
