When our kids were little, they called ‘crayons’ (colors) ‘crowns’. But speaking of crowns ... like the Kings and Queens wear ... do you have any?
I know a King Who once wore a crown of thorns but now has many crowns, including glory and honour, for He is KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS!
Most of us don’t have an earthly crown, but did you know Christ-followers can earn heavenly rewards right now? Matthew 16:27 - “For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.” The Bible says to lay up our treasures in heaven, not on earth.
Some of the crowns mentioned in The Bible:
Crown of rejoicing (1Thes.2:19)
Crown of life (James 1:12)
Crown of glory (1Peter 5:2-5)Our treasures, our rewards, will come from seeds sown and work done here on earth for Jesus … spiritual work, not good worldly deeds. 1Corinthians 3:13-15 – “Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
The seeds we sow, the things we do now to advance the kingdom of God … those are the works that will withstand the fire and earn heavenly rewards. When we meet Jesus, Who is worthy of all, and realize Who He Is, we will gladly cast our crowns at His feet and worship Him for eternity :)
