Time. We measure it here on earth (24-7/365) but it often feels as if there isn’t enough of it. On occasion, we wish to go back in time, and sometimes we want to freeze it and stay in the moment. But just like change is constant, we often let time simply slip away. While we aren’t in control of the fact that time keeps moving, we can choose how we spend our short time here. Nobody is ‘busier’ than anyone else … they simply choose to spend their time differently.
It is difficult for humans to understand ‘for ever’ or ‘everlasting’ but God’s Word relates to ‘eternity’ multiple times (although interestingly, the word ‘eternity’ appears only once). The lyrics to today’s song admonish us to choose wisely not only how we spend our time, but Who we spend our time for. Believers are exhorted to Christ-like conduct towards unbelievers in Colossians 4:5 - “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” Matthew 28 commissions believers to ‘go and tell’ and 1Peter 3:15 says to always be ready to tell others about our hope in Jesus. If you don’t have the assurance of eternal life in heaven, that’s the first step. The alternative is eternal life in the lake of fire. Your choice.
No time to read God’s Word? No time to pray? No time to share your testimony? How much time do you spend daily: *on your phone? *watching TV? *social media? *sleeping? Our life is a vapour that vanishes quickly. Are we using our allotted time to lay up for ourselves treasures on earth or in heaven? How many crowns will you earn to cast before His throne?
Exodus 15:18 - “The LORD shall reign for ever and ever.” Daniel 7:18 - “But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.”
