Why did Jesus have to suffer and die? If God is God Almighty, Creator of the Universe and everything in it, why didn’t He just forgive the sins of mankind and take everybody to heaven with Him when they die?
God is pure and holy. He cannot be near sin. Man is born into sin (physically), through his father Adam. Romans 5:12 - “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
The wages of sin is death.
Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
In order to atone for the sins of the world, God became flesh (Jesus) and sacrificed His life for us. Wow! Creator God took on our form and stepped into His creation, walked among us and experienced our world! Just as sin was atoned for by sacrificing innocent animals and doves in the Old Testament, Jesus sacrificed His life for us ... the New Testament!
We are all born sinners, and Jesus died to atone for our sin. His death, burial and resurrection is what makes it possible for us to accept His gift of eternal life. He paid our sin debt … we were bought with a price.
There is no sin too big for God.
God knows we are sinners … but He loves us (whosoever) just the way we are!
Watch Cliff Barrows, of the Billy Graham ministry, as he gives a beautiful testimony in today’s video and song.
The soul of man is so big that only God can fill it! Have you answered His call?
He Loves you just the way you are.
