Labor Day

Happy Labor Day Weekend! Labor Day (this Monday) is an annual holiday to celebrate and reflect on the economic and social contributions of workers to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the country. God tells us that whatever we do, whatever job we are blessed with, we should do it to the best of our ability, as if we're doing it for Him.

Colossians 3:23-24 - “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Matthew 6:19-21 - "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Although important, the labor we perform on this earth does not compare to the work we do for the Lord. Ultimately, we serve the Lord and the only treasures that matter will be those we earn for eternity in heaven. Whatever your plans are for this holiday, remember God's purpose for all of us, first and foremost, is to work for the Lord and spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
