Did you know that inside the human body exists a glycoprotein that is vital to biological activity? This glycoprotein, called 'laminin,' helps determine how cells differ from one another, how they move, and also holds or binds them together. In simple terms, laminin keeps our cells in place and is the 'glue' that helps hold us together.
Think of it … our bodies were made by the breath of our Creator’s mouth. God breathed us into existence.
Psalms 33:6 – “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
By His word God made the heavens and by His breath He created our wonderfully made and complex human bodies, including the laminin glycoprotein that, interestingly, is in the shape of a Cross.
In the Bible, Jesus often uses parables or 'types' to help us understand the more complicated things (i.e., Parable of the Sower, God’s Word is like a sword [Hebrews 4:12]; Jesus is likened to water [John 4:14]). In a similar way, even how God constructed our bodies picture His omniscience and how His righteousness strengthens and upholds us, right down to a glycoprotein that holds our cells together.
Isaiah 41:10 - “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” [emphasis added]
In His infinite wisdom and all-knowing power, by His breath we were created and by His word He made the heavens! Meditate on that for a minute.
Of further interest, while researching for this blog, we found that some modern versions of ‘his word/bible’ (NIV, ESV, NLT, many others) claim Colossians 1:17 says, “in Him all things are held together.”
However, Colossians 1:17 actually says, “And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” [emphasis ours]
This provides just one example of the big difference in The Holy Bible versus ‘modern bible versions.’ God doesn't merely hold all things together ... He is before all things AND by Him all things consist! (including laminin.)
Modern versions use the fallible, finite understanding of man to judge the infallible Word of God. In the example of Colossians 1:17 above, new 'versions' LIMIT the power of God--He is before all things and by Him all things consist -- He doesn't just merely hold all things together. Like laminin, what we observe or discover can certainly be used to help us understand God’s divine power through His Word, but the finite mind of man is not able to fully comprehend the infinite things of God. God’s Holy Word is our ultimate standard, it is our compass, and gives us a rational worldview.
Will you believe man, or God? Be encouraged to pray and ask God for guidance on which Bible is God’s true Word. We live in a 'fast food' society and many people prefer the 'drive-thru' when it comes to studying which ‘bible’ they should read in order to learn God’s truths.
2Timothy 4:3-4 – “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine … 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth …”
Take the time to pray and study … things that are different are not the same.
Romans 1:18-23 – “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man …”It is God Who 'holds us together', but isn’t laminin a miraculous picture of God’s wisdom, power and divine nature? Come on ... a glycoprotein in our bodies that binds cells together and resembles the Cross of Calvary? Alleluia! Amen!
Aren’t you glad we serve a powerful, infallible, incorruptible Creator God? If that doesn’t make you joyful, nothing will.
