Providing for wife and family requires a man to be responsible for meeting the material and spiritual needs of his family. Leaving a selfless mark and legacy. Nothing heroic, just being responsible to those you love and honoring to God.
1Timothy 5:8 - “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” A man can achieve this by exercising a godly character. For example,
by praying with her,
by spending time together in God’s Word, and
by looking for ways to encourage her spiritually.
A man must give up his life for his wife. As leader, lover, and servant he accommodates his life to that of his ‘wife’, a.k.a ‘God’s Gift’. While the objective is to honor your spouse, God is duly pleased. He will say in the end, “Well done, good and faithful one.”
Are you building a selfless legacy and example for your family to follow?
Today’s song cries out in complete surrender to God and giving Him your all. When you give your all to your family you are doing the right thing.
I want to leave a legacy. How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to You enough to make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering.
A child of mercy and grace who blessed Your name unapologetically,
And leave that kind of legacy.
I don't have to look too far or too long a while
To make a lengthy list of all that I enjoy.
It's an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile where moth and rust, thieves and such
will soon enough destroy.
Not well-traveled, not well-read; not well-to-do or well-bred.
Just want to hear instead, "Well done, good and faithful one"
