Titus 2:4 calls for wives “to love their husbands.” “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,”
Nobody is perfect. However, in fruitful marriages unconditional love / acceptance of an actively Christian spouse is vital as they seek to bring joy one to another.
Success in the Christian marital relationship requires both husband and wife to place the needs of the other higher than their own. This includes intimacy. It means saving time and energy for each other.
A marriage lacking unconditional love and acceptance is at risk of slipping into selfishness and each living only for their own needs and wants. When a Christian couple avoids selfishness, they prevent the inevitable isolation and in so doing form a basis for a strong marital bond, as one in Christ … just as God intended.
‘Agape’ love is described throughout the Bible. Agape love is sacrificial love that shows action. It’s an unselfish love and concern God commands every believer to have for others. Agape love should be at the core of the committed Christian.
When loving others as God loves, we have the unique opportunity to demonstrate and convey this vital Godly attribute to the lost.
As in marriage, love must be visible to be valid. If your love is invisible … it’s nothing. Inconvenience yourself, prove your love and love one another.
John 13:34-35 - “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
Today’s song ‘Baby I’m a Want You’ emphasizes the need of love.
Baby, I'm-a want you, Baby, I'm-a need you.
You the only one I care enough to hurt about.
Maybe I'm-a crazy, but I just can't live without your loving and affection,
Giving me direction, like a guiding light to help me through my darkest hour.
Lately I'm-a praying that you'll always be a-staying beside me.
