Oh, Mary had a little Lamb … He was born in a manger and His life would later be sacrificed upon a tree. He became sin’s atonement for sinners just like me. Upon the Cross of Calvary died Mary’s little Lamb and out of Calvary’s crimson flow, He offers a gift that will wash our sin white as snow.
God sent His only begotten Son into this world, and His work has already been done. Then Jesus ascended to the Throne and intercedes for everyone. But He is soon returning, just as His Father planned. And in God’s strength and power and glory, will come Mary’s little Lamb! Are you ready for that day?
Matthew 1:20b-21 – “... Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
John 1:29 - “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” John 1:35-37 – “Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! 37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.” Luke 23:33 - “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors ...” Revelation 21:2a - “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, ..." Revelation 21:23 - “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
The little nursery rhyme song, “Mary Had a Little Lamb” has a worldly story behind it. Most of us are familiar with the song and have sung it to our children. The Bible tells a true story about The Lamb of God (and He isn't so little ... He's KING size!) The next time you hear or sing the nursery rhyme song, remember the True Lamb Who gave His life for all of humanity so that we could live and sing in heaven with Him for evermore!
