The LORD our God is Creator of the ends of the earth (Isaiah 40:28). If you don’t believe that, it doesn’t change the fact that it is a true statement.
Today’s song, ‘New Creation’ brought up an interesting difference in what the Bible says versus what versions (such as NKJV, NIV, ESV, RSV) of the Bible say.
Versions of the Bible have changed God’s Word, replacing ‘creature’ with ‘creation’. Things that are different are not the same!
2Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” When we receive Christ as our Saviour, we are born spiritually and become “new creatures”. At the moment of our spiritual birth, God’s Spirit indwells us and we are as new babes in Christ. 1Peter 2:2 - “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
‘Creature’ is a related term of ‘creation’, but as nouns the difference is that creation is (countable) an invention, artwork, etc., while creature is a created thing, whether animate or inanimate; a creation.
It is interesting to note that Webster also defines: Creation as ‘the act of bringing the world into ordered existence; the act of making, inventing, or producing’ AND
Creature as ‘one that is the servile dependent or tool of another; instrument.’
It is true that Christ-followers are servants of Christ and instruments of righteousness unto God ... in addition to being creations of His. Romans 6:13 - “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
These seemingly subtle changes by versions of God’s true Word are dangerous. Versions are NOT God’s true Word. Why would you want a 'version' of the God's Word when you can have the whole truth? Click here for Which Bible is God’s Holy Word?
I thought I knew what I was talkin' about when I testified of Your greater love;
When I was a soul on fire, there was no doubt by the believin', saved and washed in The Blood.
But it wasn't 'til I stumbled and made my mistakes that I can know, in my soul, how amazin' was Grace.
You brought me blessings out of a tragedy; You turned my old song into a symphony,
And with Your Spirit livin' inside of me, I'm a new creation.
Isaiah 44:24 - “Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;”
The universe (including all humans) are God’s creation; only those who become His child by spiritual birth are new creatures in Christ. Jesus is our healer and Redeemer!
