Jesus wants us to abide in Him. Being spiritually born into His family is just the beginning! Then He wants us to: (blue links have Scripture reference)
read regularly
meditate constantly
discuss His Word frequently
study diligently
obey faithfully.
Deuteronomy 17:19 - “And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:” Joshua 1:8 - “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” 2Timothy 2:15 - “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” James 1:25 - “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
John 15:10 - “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.”
Song Lyrics: “I faced a mountain that I never faced before, that's why I'm calling on the Lord. I know it's been awhile; Lord, please hear my prayer. I need You like I never have before. Your Love is so much stronger than whatever troubles me. Sometimes it takes a mountain to trust You and believe! Far from You, Jesus, I thought I could control whatever life would throw my way; but this, I will admit, has brought me to my knees! I need You, Lord, and I'm not ashamed to say, sometimes it takes a mountain, sometimes a troubled sea; sometimes it takes a desert to get a hold of me! Sometimes it takes a mountain to trust You and believe!”
It may take facing a mountain to get you to trust Him again … or it may take a desert to create a thirst for the Living Water. Whatever it takes, abiding in Him will grow your relationship and knowledge of Him. Jesus loves you and wants to bless you abundantly!
