What is faith? The Bible says we are to 'live by faith.' Romans 1:17 - “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” We should also 'walk in faith', knowing we are eternally secure if we have accepted Christ as our Saviour. 2Corinthians 5:7 - “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”
The word ‘faith’ appears in the Bible 231 times. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith - “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
In Romans Chapter 1, Paul explains that God reveals the truth of the gospel and has manifested it in us so that we are without excuse. See Romans 1:16-20. By faith, we must make a choice to accept or reject the truth of the gospel. Our eternity is dependent upon the choice we make. Accept=heaven, Reject=hell. We choose. That’s where faith comes in ... faith in the truth, hope in the truth that God will make good on His promises; faith that He is Almighty God, the Creator of all, Who is sufficient, Who is able to save our soul.
1Corinthians 16:13a - “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith …” Today’s song encourages us to ‘stand in faith’. If we don’t stand for Jesus, who are we standing for? Faith means we don’t need to see Him to believe in Him and His Word.
Can't escape disappointment, can't avoid the delay,
But I don't have to make feeling down and defeated the place that I stay.
Gonna rise to the moment, gonna speak to the waves,
Gonna push back the doubt that keeps dragging me down when I can't find the way.
Don't need to see it to believe it (for my breakthrough).
Before You even move or make a way,
I will stand in faith, walk by faith, live by faith.
I believe!
Do you believe? Faith requires action. Have you put your faith into action and accepted the gift Jesus offers?
