When you are experiencing a problem, and you need advice or someone to talk to, it only makes sense to go to someone who has ‘been there, done that’. Maybe you received the dreaded cancer diagnosis … you need to talk to someone else who has experienced the same shock and despair. Perhaps your grown child is no longer living for the Lord … again, you’ll want counsel from someone who has been through that same pain and can encourage you. Maybe someone close to you has passed away and you can't get over the loss; depression is setting in and you are feeling guilty because you know you are blessed in so many ways ...
Whatever our problem, we want comfort from someone who can relate.
Today’s song is powerful. The lyrics admonish us to cast our burdens on the Lord and let Him sustain us. Sounds simple enough … ‘Just give it to Jesus; He’s been through it all.’ But when you watch the video and hear Bradley Walker sing the words, they become a little more real. Bradley was born with muscular dystrophy and has been in a wheelchair all of his life. He can relate to burdens ... a lifetime of difficulties ... yet he obeys God’s Word and his faith has carried Him to great heights. Psalms 55:22 - “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain,
And your soul is almost sinking in despair,
Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal—
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out —
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
Our burdens are our own. Maybe some of your troubles don’t compare to someone else’s but they are nonetheless painful to you. Trust God through your doubt. If you're sinking in despair, Jesus knows your pain. He heals, He saves!
Our God in heaven answers prayer! Take it (your burden) to the Lord and leave it there!
