Our youngest child is getting married today! What a joy to marry your best friend, with a lifetime of love and memories ahead!
In the Bible, marriage is used to represent the union between God and his people. Isaiah 54:5 - “For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.” Ephesians 5:25 explains how the marriage union represents the love of Christ to His children, the same love husbands are to have for their wives – “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Titus 2:4 exhorts women to love their husband and family – “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,”
Marriage isn’t just “I Do” with a piece of paper to make it ‘legal’, it is a covenant between man, woman and God. Ephesians 5:31 - “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.” Matthew 19:6 - “Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
If you are married, think back to your wedding day and the love that brought you to your spouse. If you are single, be assured that God has someone special for you … in His timing.
Be aware that satan wants nothing more than to destroy marriages and families. Don’t fall for His lies and stay true to God and your spouse. Marriage takes Three! (PDF poem)
