Today is the day ... mid-term elections. Don't let this important opportunity to let your Christian voice be heard pass by!
The Bible doesn’t say anything specifically about Christians voting for a government leader, but there are principles that can be applied toward the free will and responsibility of voting.
God established rulers and government. His purpose for those in authority is to be the voice for the good of the people.
Elected officials are to lead reflecting His character and legislate reflecting His teachings.
Romans 13:1 - “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
God's Will, Not Man's - Christians should vote for a candidate who stands for the same values, actions, and goals of God’s Will.
Matthew 6:10 - “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
Religious Freedom - The freedom to practice religion is a privilege and should not be taken for granted.
1Timothy 2:1-2 - "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."
Godly Character and Values - God wrote His law on the hearts of the people so they would know the difference between right and wrong. Vote for the candidate who best possesses God's character and values.
Romans 2:14-15 - "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)"
