Russia’s invasion on Ukraine has been devastating, and is impacting the whole world. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been painted by many as the most evil man in the world. The suffering and death of innocent people because of his desire for power and control is inexcusable. There are even numerous accounts of Russian soldiers surprised to learn they had been sent to war!
The Bible tells us in the end times, there will be wars and rumours of wars. Matthew 24:6 - “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”
The Bible also tells us that Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 - “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Pray for God to comfort those who are suffering because of the violence and to those mourning their dead. Ask Him to give strength to neighboring countries who are welcoming the refugees and to protect those who are working to promote peace. Pray that the God of hope will inspire leaders to choose peace instead of violence. Most of all, pray that this tragedy will soften hearts to accept the gospel message of Jesus, the Lord of Peace.
2Thessalonians 3:16 - “Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.”
