There’s a well-known passage in the Bible about Jesus walking on the water in Matthew Chapter 14, Verses 22-33. Read the account here.
Our Saviour Jesus is a WaveWalker! Who else do you know that can walk on water? This account demonstrates the profound power of and need for faith.
What is faith?
Hebrews 11:1 - “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
It is joyful being alone with God, whether in His Word or in prayer, and pouring out your heart to Him. The more we read and pray, the more we grow in faith, strength and knowledge of our Lord and recognize our great need for Him. It is not our strength, but His, that sustains us.
Often in the Christian life, God allows storms, but it is in these storms that He shows Himself and His grace. If we keep our eyes focused on Jesus, He will get us through; with Christ near, there is nothing to fear.
Matthew 14:30-31 – “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
Like Peter, it is only when we take our eyes off of Jesus that we begin to fall. When the wind turned boisterous, Peter looked at the greatness of the difficulty instead of the greatness of Jesus.
Matthew 14:31 – “And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”
Peter was allowed to walk upon the water so he could not only know the Lord’s power, but Peter’s own weakness. We can never come to Jesus unless we are upheld by His power.
When we call out to Jesus, He will stretch out his arm, and save us. Even in a stormy day, He’s a very present help. If you find yourself sinking, cry out to Jesus. Keep your eyes upon Him! If you are not spiritually born, cry out to Him for salvation.
Only our WaveWalker Jesus can tread upon the waters of the sea. We can join Him only through faith in Him and His mighty power and strength. Praise His Name!
